This is a GPMN User’s Guide for both Global Peer Professional and Global Peer Youth. If you have any questions, please tell us at email@example.com, we will update items as we go.
・Please upload your photo — it makes us feel comfortable asking you advice.
・You can input the text either in English and/or Japanese.
・Occupation or affiliated organization/company
・Location is your city/country so that we know which timezone you are living.
・For Spoken Language, please choose mentoring language (English, Japanese, or both). With this information, English speaker is matched with another English speaker.
・Everyone can set a max time per month on their dashboard to ‘give’, 2 hours, 4 hours, for example.
・If you are really busy, you can mute notifications for 2 weeks. After this it will be set back to the default, up to 2 hours a month.
・Please choose your interested areas/skills/experience at your “Wants”.
・Please choose skills/experience/areas you can provide at ”Gives”.
・On right bottom side of your Dashboard, you will find “About Me” section. Please provide us your personal message or brief self-introduction so that we can know more about you before the session.
・Please choose hobbies in Icebreakers section. This will help you to start conversation with your peer mentor.
・If you don’t find right items for ”Wants”,”Gives”、and/or ”Icebreaker”, you can create one.
・When you complete the input on Dashboard, your Profile Strength is showing 100%.
・Use Menu on right upper corner of your Dashboard to re-edit profile, “Gives”, and “Wants”.
・You can set your timezone and language from Menu button.
・Your potential matching list would appear in the right lower side of your Dashboard. They are listed because of your “Wants” selection. If you don’t see anyone there, please try re-editing your “Wants”.
・You can also enjoy “Serendipity” matching!
Your potential matching list would appear on the right lower corner of your Dashboard.
・If you would like to talk to a person listed:
Please click “Send Message” on the particular person you’d like to talk in the listing. Then, select time duration (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour), means of communication (in person, Skype etc.), and specific date(s) and time(s). Depending on the person’s availability, you may need to reschedule a time. If you click the Send Message button again, your request will be sent to the person. Once the request is sent, it will be listed at the Pending meetings on the left side of the Dashboard
・If you receive a request:
If you receive a request from the person who requested to talk with you, please try to make some time and talk with the person. Several dates/times may be specified, and if you are unable to talk on a particular date/time, please try to reschedule again by communicating with the person via email.
(A) If you are unable to answer the request at the time of the request received, please click the “Skip” button. A “next time” email will be sent to the person who had requested. You can always talk to the person whenever you are ready. To do so, send a message to the person and reschedule alternative dates/time that may suit for both of you.
(B) If you are able to accept a request at the date/time specified, then click “Schedule in APP”. Or you can directly contact the person (her email address is stated in a request email) to reschedule and consult how to talk (over a cup of tea, Skype, Google hangout, etc)
・When your talk is finished:
Please go to “Pending Meetings” on the left side of the Dashboard and give us some feedback. This feedback will NOT be sent to the person you talked. It is used only for the purpose of system improvement by JSIE. When your feedback is finished, your session will be listed in the “Completed” column.
