JSIE’s Global Peer Youth Mentoring Network
JSIE has launched a project “the Japan-U.S. Women network-building for Next Generations” utilizing JSIE’s framework of “Global Peer Mentoring Network”. While Global Peer Professional is chiefly for career-based network, this Global Peer Youth is especially for students and young professionals who would like to be a part of our effort in building cross-boarder peer mentoring network.
What is a Peer Mentor?
A peer mentor is a peer guide who can support and encourage you to manage your own learning in order that you may maximize your potential, develop your skills, and improve your performance.
JSIE is building “Global Peer Youth Network” to connect our U.S.-Japan community youth members & friends, and empower and elevate younger generation’s as well as women’s activities and participation in the global scene.
JSIE’s peer mentoring network is a mutual support system in where you can consult with other members regarding various life events that many of us experience and get advice from them. In return for that, you can give other members advice regarding specific issues that are relevant to your own experience. Furthermore, through this network, you can connect with such members who already have or want to have experience in working in different culture and other parts of world.
Simple Service
JSIE’s “Global Peer Mentoring Network” introduces you potential peer mentor(s) who matches you on specified interest-basis. It is up to you whether or not you want to talk with the peer mentor. If you want to talk to a particular person, you can make a request. And if the request is accepted, you can communicate with the peer mentor in the way you prefer, meet in person, Skype, phone call, etc. When you are busy and do not have time for peer mentoring, you can limit your available time per month or mute for 2 weeks. The only condition we ask for to maximize the value of this system is that you respond in good faith whenever you receive a request. We hope that you will find new friends (peer mentors) through this network.
GPMN Rules
Below are the rules of the Global Peer Mentoring Network (GPMN). We ask you to understand the rules before joining GPMN.
・It is our understanding that you (all GPMN members) will not disclose any personal or confidential information obtained during the GPMN sessions.
・JSIE is not responsible for any leakage of personal or confidential information obtained during the GPMN session. We ask you to pay attention to handling of such information.
・You may not use this service for any unauthorized purposes such as business and commercial of your own.
・We ask you to have each mentoring session about 30-60 minutes.
・The information you provide will be used only for the purpose of the GPMN program.
・After each mentoring session, we ask you to give us some feedback regarding this program for the quality improvement.
・We recommend you to summarize the question contents in advance to have a session.

Global Peer Youth Network Pilot Program
JSIE is currently conducting pilot-program among youth members who are interested in participating in this “Global Peer Youth Network”. During the pilot-program period, we ask participants to give us some feedback regarding the service.
